Is Democracy a Good Thing?
Diversity is often touted as a wonderful thing. Is a benefit by more diverse societies, more diverse groups of people combine our ideas better. But it seems counter intuitive that they are subject to these pressures. Bad news here as also potentially good news. The bad news is that democratic institutions often inflame the tensions between different groups. And so that's actually an additional difficulty in building, not diverse societies, but diverse democracies.
