The Mycenaean Occupation of Anatolia
The Hittites called Millawanda and what we believe must have referred to Myletus which sits near the mouth of the Meander River on the western coast of Anatolia. Archaeological finds can also confirm that the Greeks expanded out of their Peloponnesian lands on mainland Greece too. So it would also make sense that the Mycenaeans occupied what would become Athens and interestingly the modern day site of the Acropolis. It is the ancient citadel where the Athenians built the Parthenon around 1000 years after the time they are exploring here.
