Following someone when you're on your own is not nearly as straightforward as they make it look in the films. We usually have a whole formation of people following a subject. Everyone switches positions constantly, so even if the subject spots one person following them, we can immediately rotate that person out before someone new. And someone like Novak hasn't been as successful as he is without knowing how to spot and lose a tale. Which is how I know that he's standing at that bus stop, not because he intends to get a bus, but because it gives him an excuse to look around and see if anyone is watching him. Bingo.
