The Age of Napoleon Podcast

CHAPTER

The Battle of Brun

The vienna road was some of the most valuable real estate on the battlefield. It would be a tempting target for the coalition and a position napoleon would try to hold. Bonaparte's great plan for this battle revolved around presenting his right flank as a tempting target. He hoped the coalition leadership would be so tantalized by the prospect of severing the vienna road that they would throw all their strength into an attack on the french right. Once they were committed to the right napoleon would seize the protzen heights with his on centre, and used this commanding position as a wedge to split the coalition army.
