Machine Learning: Avoid Overfitting and Enable Good Generalization
As a student, Peter's biggest frustration in object recognition was that we were hand tuning mostly basin basnet mottoes. As an assistant professor he realised the most important concept in machine learning is to avoid overfitting and enable generalization. If we don't have enough data, you i mean, peter, you know that we will overfit the models very easily. He turned his attention to data, following that line of thinking, and realized there are tot many data set out there in computer vision.
