The Conflict of a Play
I think maybe Edmond comes off a little better than the other characters, but not by much. Jamie, Tyrone and Mary all have these speeches where they kind of, at some point, recognize and admit their own fault even if they walk away from it later in the play. And I don't know if Edmond necessarily has that moment. It's a play that starts in kind of a medium place and makes its way down to a very low place. There's an irony that the men are walking on eight shells around the mother worried she's going to start using again.
