Did You Notice a Difference in Attitudes in Japan After the War?
There is a real difference in the way that those troops who served in the occupation in japan after the war felt. Many, many allied, british, canadian, australian, new an troops just never were able to overcome this kind of deeply felt hatred for all Japans. That was a realization that came much more naturally in my speaking. I don't have survey data, you know, if there had been some survey data, i think it would have borne this out. It was a fascenating pattern that i've seen in my interviews with hundreds and hundreds of worwar two veterans.
