The Role of FES PET in Biopsy Proven ILC

This prospective study was the first of its kind to exclusively assess FES PET uptake for biopsy proven ILC. In comparison to prior literature on FDD PET which demonstrated abnormal uptake close to 60%, the rates of FES PET are at the very least comparable if not higher than FDD PET. The study also identified contralateral DCIS or axillary node metastasis in 24% of patients which was not detected by standard of care evaluation.
