The Iowa Lottery's Unclaimed Prize
The $16.5 million jackpot was the largest unclaimed prize in Iowa Lottery history. The ticket was purchased at a convenience store on Interstate 80, which runs east and west from Chicago to San Francisco. Hundreds of people called in claiming to be the winner, but none of them were credible. A lawyer from Bedford, New York named Crawford Shaw signed the ticket as the trustee.
