The Akron's Struggle With the Wind

The Akron airship went down in the Atlantic on April 4, 1933. Three crew members were rescued by a German ship that thought it was a plane crash. Two more men actually died in the search effort for survivors. In total, 73 men lost their lives when the Akron was destroyed.
