"I can't think of many better ways to experience old age and spending time with friends," he says. "When you're reading it, I remember traveling Greece that when I was reading it the first time, I had never wanted to leave." The book is a life-affirming meditation on simple things like taking pleasure in the simple things - not just chasing everything. It's probably if not my favorite public philosophy book of all time, certainly in the top five. And yeah, I'd read Epicurus as a good self help guru who can remind you of the stuff that's important in life.
