The Social Practice of Fashion
In 1904, the German philosopher and sociologist George Simmel published an article in the journal, International Quarterly, titled fashion. In it, he argues that fashion is the social practice that perhaps more so than any other channels or exemplifies the two forces that shape human nature and human life. Fashion differentiates us as individuals, yet obviously nobody has their own private fashion,. So we might say in response to Wittgenstein's claim that there is no private language, that there isno private fashion.
