The Importance of Synthetic Data in AI
This sounds like some kind of Ponzi scheme or some kind of magic where we make up data out of thin air. Do you think that would work? Do you think output from previous language models would be interesting as training data for new language models? I don't know if it would work. This is just like the easiest way for us to acquire more data. And I guess companies will look into this. It's not an ideal scheme from my lens who wants to understand the systems and make sure they actually are well understood.
