The Synthesis of Joint Activity and Intersubjectivity
Sewing a log with two people is good because it gets you into the idea of joint action while keeping the activity in question really inflexible. If I'm pushing the saw, you've got to be pulling it. At the very least, it's going in your direction. There's this complete physical dependence between what I'm doing and what you're doing in relation to this common focus. That's where you get true, kind of nomatively-oriented joint commitment, and that's where youget into subjectivity.
