Is Notating a Good Idea?

I like having a copy that doesn't have the marks in it because that will distract me from what's really going on. Notating could kind of disrupt that story in your head. So I think another benefit you mentioned is like when you write in your book, you're more engaged in the book itself. And also becomes this kind of like journal that you go, you look back on like what I learned and what I found interesting in this book.
