It's all about that pause before acting that we're working to expand with children. Adults have slightly more self-awareness. And a lot of that self-awareness comes with paying attention to your body. By slowing our breath, we're signaling to our nervous system that we're not in danger. We can calm down. It allows our higher level thinking part of our brain to come back online and react in a more thoughtful way.
