What Is the Initial Acetaminophen Level?
Anylcysteine is an amazing medication for preventing liver failure from acetaminophen overdoses. Most patients thankfully do not need the antidote and they can be cleared. Charcoal has been found to was effective in reducing serum acetaminophen concentrations and reducing liver injury. You should never intubate patients just to give charcoal, you're not going to make this patient drink charcoal.
