The Prosecutors

What Is Hearsay?

The prosecution probably worked with Jackson a lot. You know, the prosecutors, they massage this testimony. They got him to say all the right things. With Jackson, he knows where his bread is buttered. He wants to not get the death penalty. So I don't think you had to coach Jackson all that much. And it's very convenient that the prosecution doesn't have to do any finagling to get this testimony in. They just get to put Jackson up there because Jackson says, this is a conversation I had with Ralph. Anything a defendant says is never hearsay. so you don't have to worry about that.
