The Fireflies and Marlene Need Tessen Joel
Joel is really worried about this mission. It's nothing like they've ever done before. And he doesn't understand if why if Marlene is in command of the Firefly militia, they don't just use their own people. I think what this suggests is that Federer's campaign against the Fireflies has been devastating and that whatever manpower they have left, it's not a lot. But you have to kill a lot of people to be able to be in a low morph and cub situation. So it fits the trope, but it's not, it doesn't make sense in the world and economy that they know.
