The History of the Italian Fascist Party

The Italian Fascist Party did not begin life as a radical right wing political party. During those early years they would support workers' rights, including support for an 8-hour workday. Along with supporting these types of changes, the fascists were also supported during this period by the syndicalists. The national syndicalists would mix their beliefs with strong Italian nationalism to create a belief structure that rejected democracy and Marxism while embracing violence. It would be during 1920 that theItalian Fascist Party would adopt some policies which would coincide with a strong move away from workers' rights and other leftist policies towards the right.
