The Price of Poly Silice in China
The price of poly silicon in China is something like $30 a kilogram up from eight or nine. And it takes four or five years for those same solar panels to return the initial energy up front. So if you're going to deploy a huge amount of energy to create a machine that produces energy, the amount of upfront payment has to come from somewhere. The choice to take that cheap thermal coal and to make poly silicon has to be measured against the need to use that call to produce electricity to keep the lights on in China today.
