The History of the Roman Gladiators
Sekitor, Mermillo, Rettiarius and Thrakes were the main types of gladiators. They fought with fishing nets and tridents like Aquaman. There were also blindfolded fighters called Andabatai or gladiatrixes. The biggest amphitheater was the Colosseum in Rome but there were probably about 400 smaller ones all over the Roman Empire - including several in Britain.
