I think the modernism thing is interesting, because I think the other thing that's very important with conspiracy theory is story. We are the only animal that really has narrative, and we constantly try and create stories out of our lives. And so the protocols of the Elder's Design is that it's a story. It's a story about villains controlling the world, but the conspiracy theorist is then the hero, because they've cracked that code.
