Is There a Longer Run Trend?
Since the 19 eighties, every year we have er new firms. Every year we have less exit. So the firms survive, for some reason, for a longer period of time. And then the new firms that do come about, they hire far fewer people. In the last 20 years, we have fewer and fewer firms that grow very quickly. Some of our biggest and brightest companies, like net flicks and apple, they're generating now like two million dollars in revenue per employee.
