Writers of Color, Do You Feel a Responsibility?

Q. Do you feel a responsibility to portray an unappealing character? A. I think some writers say that writing should be not saying the things that people can already say, but saying the things people aren't allowed to say. Q. What do you want to teach perhaps your white audience about the other? Ah, justo love how you ask this question. i'm very grateful for my white liberal audience, cause they buy books. They're not like asians who make their kids borrow them from the library. And yet, i get pissed off because, excuse the language, am its open their eyes to a whole different world because they have the right views.
