The Importance of Interdisciplinarity in Art History
I think there's a lack of cross pollination between ethnographic studies of rituals and Roman art history or, you know, archaeology and art history. There's the lack of feedback between these disciplines so that everyone seems to approach the best from within their own academic silo. I've seen this again in certain of the anthropological papers that I've dealt with first-hand accounts of participating in observing magical rituals but then they're wholly ignored by the academic community.
