The Importance of Aspirin in Strokes
Aspirin is one of those things that sits on a reasonably good evidence base, in fact, in stroke. It's recommended by all of the national guidance and should be given within 24 hours if there has been no bleed. If they're able to swallow orally, then 300 milligrams orally is perfect. However, if they can't tolerate that, then you're going to have to look for other routes such as PR or bi-entral feeding tube. Now, this should be continued for around two weeks after the symptom onset before we think about long-term treatment.
