The Value of a VC

MIT was a constant assault on my self-esteem. I don't think MIT helped me as an entrepreneur. What MIT did was it taught me how to think. From the entrepreneur point of view, if they can raise the money on themselves, what is the value of a VC?What would you tell an entrepreneur who's not sure they actually want you from your company? What are the benefits of taking it from you?
