The complaint was fired before an equadors court because it is the only country that recognizes nature as a subject and protects its rights in its constitution. It was an interesting test of ecuador's rights of nature and law, but ultimately unsuccessful. Kore tried to sidestep the oil curse by proposing something along the lines of climate debt.
