Lorca was one of Spain's most celebrated writers and poets in the early 1900s. He was tragically assassinated on August 18, 1936 and his body was never found. It is rumored he was killed by Spanish nationalist forces both for his outspoken socialist views and for his homosexuality. When Dali first read Ode to Salvador Dali,. he was moved beyond words.
