The Fourth Political Theory of Time and Progress
There's a tradition Well within western philosophical canon dealing with those questions But then how you end up answering them where you land after having raised them That's where all the variation that comes in. Leo Strauss had an essay called progress or return where he too distinguished between two Orientations towards time One that sees let's say the better it placed in the future and one that sees the good life in its repentance. It's turning around turning away turning back Going to the better origins and roots of our tradition as opposed to gradually getting alienated from them forgetting them.
