The Importance of Anticipatory Grief

With my dad, he had advanced Parkinson's and dementia. So what I had while he was still alive was the grief that he wasn't there anymore. And then when he died, it was sort of over. It was like the grief stopped on his death rather than started. That's really common when I speak to people you've lost people to Alzheimer's dementia because the person is disappearing before they are dead. You are anticipatory grieving them, but also they aren't dead.And it's a weird halfway house, I suppose.
