Biden promised if elected he would appoint a black woman to the supreme court. He needed to make this promise because he needed south carolina bidon, and now he gets to keep his vow. A lot of conservatives who would never, ever back biden's nominee under any circumstances will bemoan this pledge as something like anti meritocratic.
