Don't Insert Your Story When Your Child Is Telling You Theirs
Sometimes our children who quote unquote did not go through trauma, or maybe we see their trauma as insignificant compared to our trauma. Never insert your story when your child is telling you theirs. You just need to bear witness at the moment and make sure that I don't insert my story into theirs. That's very dismissing and validating. If it's a trauma for them, then it's trauma for them.
