The Role of Indigenous Peoples in the Voice
I don't believe we are a different race for human beings like everyone else. We're approaching this on the basis of being indigenous people. Decisions are made specifically about us as an indigenous people, so wouldn't it be fair for us to have a say? It's not about race. It's about our indigenous heritage and culture. If we were treated the same, then surely we wouldn't be the most incarcerated people proportionately on the planet. There is a structural and political issue here that we can resolve.
