There is nothing exeptional about our current moment. I think back to the irish christian monastics of the early mediaeval period of the late dark ages. They were very carefully preserving and copying over a lot of the intellectual fruits of the ancient period. And you know what? We're glad they were, because it was actualy in these monasteries that we maintain are only copies of some of the qey ancient philosophical and mathematical text That then help spur the renaissance a couple f hundred years later.
