The Nationalist Victory in Santander

Franco ordered de Villa to once again begin preparations for the final offensives against the northern enclave. The attack began on August 14th and almost immediately they would experience success. In total, 86 battalions of troops from Asturia, Santander and the Bask army were destroyed with 60,000 men taken prisoner. For the entire war in the north, the Republican forces suffered 133,000 casualties while the nationalists suffered 110,000.
