They have been defined more sharply by what they oppose than by what they embrace, unquote. And so one of the things that democratic theorists are looking at today as an alternative model is citizens assemblies. Now it's hard to have them for a full legislature, but one theorist at Rutgers has advocated single issue citizens assemblies.
