Germany has given €13.3 billion in combined financial and military aid for Ukraine. Germany ranks second only to the U.S. as a supporter of Ukraine, says CNN's John Defterios. It seemed that Germany had almost tied its hands by its dependence on Russian gas, he adds. But thanks to an unusually mild winter, there's actually been a drop-in gas consumption by more than 20%. And this happened even as the government was splashing out a lot of money to secure alternatives with supplies of gas.
