Theodosius and the Church of Kannosa

Theodosius, a full of newfound Christian vigor, turned away from his previous policy of toleration. He published an edict effectively banning paganism in the empire. It is not quite the revolutionary piece of legislation it is often supposed to be. Not by a long shot. But it did mean that some of them would. That in the coming conflicts between church and state, that the church would have some firepower in their arsenal when they demanded fealty from kings.
