The Sturdyness of the Donkey
A donkey will not act in haste, so a donkey will think first rather than run like a horse might. The big ears are a supreme adaptation to the desert environment. It is not in your best interest to run headlong over the edge of a cliff away from a predator. So you might decide that flight is the best thing, but actually you may decision that flight is your best instinct.
