In other traditions, this seems to be grounded in the idea that god uttered creation into existence. So presumably, if one can allign oneself with the godhood and utter some things into being, then one can carry out the same creative or destructive act. I guess that perhaps this might be the root of the difference between a ruhania, or whatever you want to call it, pious magic and ser the impious magic.
