VHDL, Is That Like Ladder Logic?

VHDL is like a circuit board that just has a bunch of gates, like on and off switches. You can program them very custom to run very fast but you're not necessarily writing C unless you write it yourself. And so after like kind of understanding a little bit more about computer architecture and hardware, C really made sense for me.
