What's Going on With Amoji?
The lack of a standardized amoji alphabet created real problems for phone makers who wanted to make sure their phone could communicate with all other devices. The unicode consortium existed well before amoji and was formed by silicon valley tec companies in 19 91. They saw the internet becominga big deal and said, hey, i think it's in all our best interest if we create some universal standards here. So they agreed to hold regular meetings where representatives from all the major tech companies get together and vote on the standards they'll all use.
