Economic development has an effect of curbing overpopulation that seems to be true in many places. The other thing that's got to be part of the piece of the puzzle is migration. Some very rich countries in Europe, for example, that are way below replacement rate where the population is aging would really benefit from working age people moving there. And then there are other places with lots of people and few economic opportunities and we could help them too.
