The Importance of Photography in My Career

During his sophomore year, I sort of hit a sort of wall kind of crisis of my photography. And so I took a workshop with Charlie Harbitt that summer. It wasn't so much necessarily what Charlie said, but I saw an example of a photographer who was surviving from his profession and doing some of the work he really cared about. So there was a real connection. That really convinced me to ease off my last two years at Harvard in my academic studies. And I was going to concentrate much more on my photography, which I did.
