Do You Recognize Dark Patterns?

In many cases it's probably done on purpose and it's not always something you can't play in a company for. This is also happening on the development side and we replicate patterns that we're used to seeing on new pages. So how do you do data collection to study something like this? Before us we've seen quite some research already going into this, not very user centered.
