Is There a Kind of Universal Consciousness?
A lot of people come out of psychodelic experiences with an intuition around some kind of cosmic consciousness that exist before matter. I've been involved in this project recently with chris timman from imperial college, to have a look at the effects of psychedelics on people's metaphysical beliefs. And er the big take home stories, yes, they do seem to move people away from naturalism, but it's not yet clear whether, and granted, in this study we looked at more than just oaska, so stenon might still be right as a trend there. But it's not clear yet that they specifically move people towards a a cosmic consciousness type view.
