Xenophon's Anabasis, Book 6. The Paphlegonians kidnapped the stragglers and tried to inflict harm upon such of the Greeks as were quartered at some distance from the rest. After this, while they delayed at Katiora, some of the men lived by purchasing from the market and others by pillaging the territory of Paphlegonia. Xenophon would have written his books on scrolls, on books of wound up papyrus leaves.
