I don't think it's reducible only to technology like why late capitalism has killed desire. It's also endemic to a broader post-industrial socialization of institutional and familial relations. The infrastructure of communication right now is not simply language but the digital medium through which we are put into contact with each other. I mean this infrastructure is what supports our communication so I don't think there's technology reduction on one hand and desiring subject rich proliferation on the other.
